What if the reason why Ishimaru yelled so much was because he was partially deaf and didn’t want any one to know?
The family was too poor to buy a hearing aid and just left it because they knew he didn’t have friends. One day a sign language translator came into Kiyotaka’s class and signs for him and everyone laughs at him and thinks he is totally deaf and say nasty things.
Kiyotaka just regrets being partially deaf and doesn’t come to school the next day and asks his parents to take him to a counselor which his parents have to decline. So he turns to self harm. Once Kiyotaka comes back, people are rowdy and he is not in the mood for anything. Nobody notices except the gang leader because he was the same way when his brother passed away.
So Mondo goes over to Kiyotaka and just like looks at him. The only thing Kiyotaka says is
“You are gowing to waugh at me tou, aren’t shu?”
Mondo is really sad because Kiyotaka is saying this in a deaf slur. Mondo shakes his head and brings into the bathroom. Mondo touches the cuts and Kiyotaka winces in pain.
Mondo just rolls up Kiyotaka’s uniform and area the cuts on his wrists and arms. Mondo is shocked and pulls Kiyotaka close to him and tells him that he was the same way when his brother died.
Mondo just holds Kiyotaka and h we hears Kiyotaka’s sobbing.

Summary: Kiyotaka tries to kill himself and Mondo stops him

Mondo walked along the hall to his room and quickly opened the door. He found Kiyotaka Ishimaru, the love of his life, with a knife in his left hand and his arms looked like they had been in war.
“Kiyotaka, what are you doing?” Mondo asked, worry in his voice.
Kiyotaka turned around and stared at Mondo. He was scared and depressed at the same time. He started crying and blubbering words that were not understandable.
“Kiyotaka!” Mondo yelled and ran to him faster than a speeding bullet as Kiyotaka fell to the floor, “Daiya, get the ambulance!”
———————————— Monitors beeped to his heart. Mondo sat outside covering his head with his hands. His boyfriend fainted and looked almost dead. What happened to him?
“Mondo Oowada?” A nurse called out and squinted at the gang leader.
“Yes?” Mondo sniffled slightly and looked up.
“You may go see Kiyotaka now.” The nurse said and walked away sassy like.
Mondo stood up and walked to the room Kiyotaka was in. He looked like one of the cancer kids you see in the commercials. Kiyotaka just laid down and stared at Mondo and tried not to cry.
“I’m sorry Mondo. I’m so sorry. I wish I could forgive myself for ever thinking you could love me.” Kiyotaka mumbled and shed a small tear.
Mondo sighed and hugged his boyfriend’s neck. Mondo cried with Kiyotaka and held him closer. Kiyotaka could feel Mondo ’ s heartbeat like it was in his hand.
“Why did you do it? You made me so scared. What happened to you?” Mondo asked, whispering the sorrowful words in Kiyotaka ’ s ears.
Kiyotaka Ishimaru turned his head to face his lover.
“Junko told me I wasn’t good enough for you. She said quote to quote that I’m a ‘fuck up’.” Kiyotaka cried and tears ran faster down his cheeks.
“Don’t believe her. If she says you’re a fuck up then I am too. I love you for who you are and nothing can change that. God put you in this world for me and I was put here for you.” The gang leader murmured to his lover.
Kiyotaka smiled, “Thank you Mondo. Thank you for loving me. Thank you for being the one I need when I am down and depressed. Thank you for being there for me at any time.” Kiyotaka smiled and hugged his fiance.
Mondo held him forever
Well, it seemed like forever to Kiyotaka.
